Traveling in Costa Rica during December is a culturally rich experience characterized by poplar holiday traditions and festivals. During the holiday season almost all Costa Ricans crave for tamales with coffee or agua dulce, bake pork legs, and sip refreshing eggnog. Costa Ricans also get a well-deserved Christmas bonus to buy presents and Christmas decorations. Many bring their children to a Christmas tree lighting ceremony and visit downtown San Jose and the Central Avenue boulevard for the “Avenidazo”.
